The Arizona State Auditor, in a report issued last week, reports that some parents of students enrolled in the Empowerment Scholarship Accounts (ESA) program have abused the program by making fraudulent purchases. The tragedy of this that bad behavior by some brings into question the entire program; a program that is one tool that parents of special needs students can use to get the best education opportunities for their children. Instead of using the expansion of ESA, school vouchers by a different name, to privatize public school education, the Governor and Republicans in the state legislature should be focusing on administrating the current program to benefit those students for which ESAs were intended.
Here is a reason to vote NO on proposition 305.
