I agree with Attorney General Mark Brnovich that there is a need for new legislation that regulates financial dealings of these schools. We also need to review how the state is overseeing academic accountability of charter schools.
The Republican party in Arizona has made it clear that they believe that schools should be privatized. Consistently for the last decade they have sought expansion of private school vouchers. The latest attempt is the increase in Empowerment Scholarship Accounts (ESA), which is another name for vouchers, to virtually all K-12 students in Arizona. This November the public can say NO to gutting the public school system in Arizona by voting NO on Proposition 305.
